Happy St. Patrick's Day!I just wanted to send out a webmail to check in with you all! I know this semester has been different in World History. You’re doing a great job on the assessment so far! I appreciate your webmails with questions and your resubmitting assessments when I ask. Keep up the good work! To make things a little easier to manage, I am beginning to add due dates to my website and your planners to help you keep up.
At this time, I have graded all Unit 2 and 3 Assessments that have been turned in to me. If you do not have a grade, and you believe you turned your work in, please let me know. If you are not passing World History right now, you are likely missing one or both assessments. It does not matter how far you get in my class, you will not pass unless you complete the assessments. Here are the directions on how to get them done:
Unit 2 Assessment - Due 2/25 - Overdue Unit 3 Assessment - Due 3/7 - Overdue Unit 4&5 Assessment - Due 4/1 Thank you for all of your hard work! Have a great day and upcoming weekend. Welcome to Semester B of World History. I wanted to let you know right away that there are some big changes this semester so please make sure to read through the entirety of this webmail. Instead of tests and portfolios, you will be given eight assessments to complete throughout the semester. These assessments will make up over half of your grade and are the main way you will demonstrate your understanding this semester. While assessments are similar to portfolios, assessments are activities, projects, and assignments personally created by the World History team that will allow you to dive into the content more. You will be submitting these assessments via Google Forms. We are really excited to be offering these this semester. Sure you do! Please go ahead and bookmark the World History website and my “You Can Book Me” link and send me a screenshot of both (via Webmail) for 5 points extra credit. The website is going to be especially helpful this semester so please use it! Take some time to explore the recent changes.
That’s it for now! Attached to this webmail is the updated syllabus if you would like more detail about the changes for this semester. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Welcome Back World History Students! I hope you all had a good break. I know it can be hard to jump back into the swing of things, but we only have a couple weeks left in the semester! Let’s get started and do our best! This week’s LiveLesson will cover the Italian Renaissance! Come discuss some of the greatest accomplishments of the 15th Century. I will open my Zoom room 5 minutes before 1:00 PM. Can’t wait to see you all and talk about your breaks! Remember, the Unit 11 Exam is assigned for today (1/3) and tomorrow (1/4). If you need to refresh your memory and want some help on the essay question, check out the Powerpoint I have attached to this webmail. Also, here is the last LiveLesson recording before break. Kahoot for Unit 11 - Feel free to review on your own! Announcements Lesson Completion: You should be at 80% lesson completion by Friday, January 7th. No School: Monday, January 17th - Martin Luther King's 93rd Birthday (January 15th) Last Day of Semester: Wednesday, February 2nd; no work will be accepted past 8:59 PM Temp Zeros: Temporary 0s will go in every Friday for work that is assigned up until that day. That's all for now! Please reach out to me if you have any questions and have a great week! Good Morning World History Students and Learning Coaches,
I hope you all had a pleasant break and are ready to jump back in! Wednesday’s LiveLesson will be on Unit 10: The Muslim World and Africa.
Hey World History Students! It is officially portfolio week. The portfolio is assigned this week on 10/13 and 10/14. Let's go over some portfolio basics.
First, you do not have to complete the portfolio that is assigned to you in Connexus. The World History team has taken the time to create three alternate portfolios for you that we hope will allow you to dive further into this fascinating time in history. That being said, if you choose to complete the essay assigned in Connexus you are more than welcome. Please make sure to use MLA formatting (or APA if you are up to a challenge). Click here to visit my website and view the three alternate portfolios. You only need to complete one of these options. This week during our Live Lesson time you can drop in for help. We will be working in Option 3 which is the document-based question option. Rather work with me one-on-one? Book a call with me! Remember my Live Lessons are on Wednesday's at 1:00 PM. Need more time to work on your portfolio? Please go ahead and turn in this document. I want to give you the time that you need. If you upload this document into the dropbox you will earn a score of 0, but it will allow you to move forward in my class. When you are ready to submit your portfolio, just send me a webmail and I will clear the dropbox for you. If you have any questions about this process, please let me know. Lastly, remember when we have a portfolio I drop the test. That means that there will be no Unit 5 Test. I hope this helps you! If for some reason the Unit 5 Test has not been dropped for you please let me know, I'll fix it right away. This Week at a Glance:
Have a great week! Get a hold of me if you need help! Hey there World History Students and Learning Coaches,
It has come to my attention that my Monday webmail never sent out. So, welcome to a Wednesday webmail! Today in your planner starts Unit 5. I want to remind you that our first portfolio of the semester is in Unit 5. Whenever we have a portfolio, I drop the Unit test so you have the ability to focus on your portfolio. I hope this helps you! The Unit 5 Test should be dropped from your gradebooks already. Today's 1:00 PM Zoom lesson is cancelled, but don't worry! Last week in our Live Lesson we briefly went over the Unit 5 Portfolio, and this week I have a more in-depth recording. Click here for the recording. Also, the PowerPoint for the Unit 5 Portfolio is attached to this webmail. Finally, all directions for this portfolio are on my website. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesistate to reach out via webmail or book a call with me here.
Hello Everyone!
Thanks to so many of you for attending the LiveLesson today. Clearly, we had some issues so I will be recording another class introduction to post on my website under LiveLesson recordings. Thank you all so much for reaching out to me to let me know that the share screen wasn't working. Seems like the first week of Zoom has been tricky for a lot of us. In the meantime, here is a link to a quick recording about how to use our World History website. I hope this will help you navigate to all the important resources you will need this year. I will see you next week at our LL time when I expect things will be running much more smoothly. Please reach out if you have any questions. Hey World History Students and Learning Coaches!
Welcome to World History with me, Ms. Philbrick! I am so looking forward to being your teacher this year. I want to start off by providing the link to my World History website. My website is where you are going to find all the resources you need to succeed in World History this year including: study guides, directions, templates, and LiveLesson recordings. Please bookmark it for easy access! Here is the link to my website. This year we will be having our Live Lessons on Wednesday's at 1:00 PM. While Live Lessons are not mandatory, I highly encourage you to attend! In addition to valuable test reviews, it's a nice opportunity to interact with your classmates! Our first session will be on Wednesday, September 15th at 1:00 PM. Here is the link to my Zoom room. This week we will be going over some class expecations and a little about me. If you're curious, I have an about me on my website too. Okay, that's the major stuff covered! I send out a webmail every Monday information about the upcoming week so come to expect them. If you ever miss them and they buried in your inbox, I also post my weekly webmails on my website so you don't miss them. This Week at a Glance: Lesson Completion: You should be at 10% lession completion by Friday, September 17th. This is a good guide to make sure you don't get behind in your lessons! Academic Honesty: At the beginning of this semester you signed an Honor Code to not use outside resources inappropriately (like during a test). The textbook, my website, and me! That's all you should need. Answers on the internet aren't always correct and Honor Code Violations hurt your grade. Office Hours: My Office Hours are on Mondays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This is just a drop in session should you need any help. We will also sometimes work on assignments or review for tests. Phone Calls: I know a lot of us aren't used to making phone calls, but that's one of the best ways to communicate with me. You can sign up for a time to talk to me by going to my YouCanBookMe. Pick a time that works best for you and I will give you a call! You can also text me at 707-726-2861. I know you're going to get tons of information today! It's a lot to take in. My best advice for any new student is just to ask for help! Respond to webmails with questions, talk to your Homeroom teacher, schedule phone calls with your subject teachers. We are all here to help you! |
